At CalSan, we believe in the strength of women and the vital role they play in shaping society. Women’s Month is not only about celebrating achievements but also reflecting on the ongoing journey toward gender equality. In South Africa, it reminds us of the historic 1956 Women’s March , a bold stand against injustice and the continued fight against gender-based violence, unequal pay, and underrepresentation in leadership.
This year, we celebrated by creating spaces for growth, recognition, and connection. From workshops and panel discussions to mentorship programs, our initiatives encouraged women to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and support each other. But beyond events, what makes Women’s Month meaningful is shining a light on the inspiring women of CalSan who embody courage, leadership, and resilience every day.

In a male-dominated industry, Charity leads with courage, authenticity, and impact. She manages waste operations with pride, ensuring her team thrives while proving that leadership is about action and purpose. For her, empowerment means the confidence to influence change, while success is about growth and staying true to one’s values.
“Don’t wait for permission to lead. Take up space.”

With determination and strategic vision, Mahlatsi drives business growth while staying true to her values. She defines empowerment as creating opportunities, building confidence, and leading without limits. Mrs. CalSan – Founder & Role Model
The heart of CalSan, Mrs. CalSan is a role model whose leadership reminds us that true power lies in courage, confidence, and integrity. She has built an environment where women are encouraged to rise, break barriers, and lead with authenticity.
“A strong woman breaks barriers and paves the way for others.”
Looking Beyond August
While Women’s Month allows us to pause and celebrate, it also reminds us that empowerment cannot be confined to one month. At CalSan, we are committed year-round to creating opportunities, supporting women in leadership, and fostering workplaces where women feel valued and respected. Our recent surveys show that most of our female employees feel encouraged to grow and lead, proof that progress is being made, but also a reminder to keep going.
Here’s to women who lead, inspire, and create change at CalSan and beyond. Together, let’s ensure that women are celebrated, supported, and empowered every day of the year.
